Entertaiment has become firmly associated with amusement, although many forms have serious purposes. They may include ceremony, festival, religious ritual, satire, and political protest. Entertainment can be private, as in the individual choosing a movie from an ever increasing array of pre-recorded products; or on any scale, from banquets adapted for two to performances intended for thousands. Entertainment is highly flexible, and even activities used in hunting or war, such as fencing or archery, have developed into spectator sports, sometimes staged as global competitions and broadcast for entertainment.
